Name: Almin Skender
Get to know a little bit more about Almin:
What is your previous profession? Server – Bristol at Power and Light
What is your favorite part about being a Realtor? My favorite part about being a Realtor is that you can set your own hours and when to work. You are basically your own company. I love being able to meet new clients, new properties, and that every transaction is a new learning experience. I feel like I get smarter with every deal.
What brought you to RE/MAX Innovations? I interviewed at 3 different brokerages but Eddy and Carol really made a great first impression. I felt like I already fit in. The resources & branding that they would provide for me was a big asset for my career. They showed me around the office and introduced me to everyone. The staff is also amazing, anytime I have questions or need help someone in the office is there to help.
What is your favorite room in a house? Without a doubt, the kitchen because it is the most important room when it comes to the resale value of the home. No matter what type of home you live in, no home is complete without a kitchen Changing the cabinets or countertops can significantly transform the mood in the kitchen. Also, the kitchen in a home is used by the entire family which gives us the ability not only to provide meals but a complete experience.
What is your guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure would be sour candy…sour patch kids, sour strips, sour gummy bears. I have to watch how much I eat because my tongue will get sores because I eat so much.
Are you a “Glass Half Empty” or a “Glass Half Full” kind of person? I would say Glass Half Empty because there is always room to improve and grow. Every day brings a new challenge and opportunities that will help us be more productive, effective, and successful at work and in life.
If you could have a superhero power, what would it be? My super power would be that I could fly. It would just be a fun experience and a faster way of commuting instead of wasting gas, going to showings would be a freeze and not having to be in traffic would be a big plus. Even when I was younger flying has always been one of the main things that I wish I could do. Everyone wants to fly at least once in their lifetime.
What is the most used app on your phone or tablet? The HomeSpotter App. It has everything I need when I’m on the go. I can schedule showings, see price changes, how long it’s been on the market, view supplements & documents. I can send links from the app about the homes that clients are interested in within a few minutes.
What makes you, or has made you, the person you are today? It would be my parents, if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t even be in the U.S. They gave up so much and left everything behind in Bosnia for a better future for me and my sister. We moved multiple times when I was younger. They came here with less than $200 and achieved the American dream.
What is your favorite aspect or activity to do to in Kansas City? My favorite thing about Kansas City would be the famous BBQ, my favorite place being Gates BBQ. I always get the beef and half sandwich, which is sliced meat stacked on a thin bun and comes with wedge fries. The sauce at gates is to die for. Other great BBQ places are Q39 if you’re looking for a modern place, KC joes is amazing because of the Z man sandwich.
What is a fun fact or something that most people do not know about you? I was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it’s my first language and English being my second.
What is your favorite activity to do in Kansas City? Going to arrowhead stadium to watch the Chiefs games or watching them on game day.
Favorite Beverage? Dr. Pepper
Favorite Meal? Cheese Burger from 5 Guys
Favorite Book? Rich dad, poor dad
Favorite Color? Blue
Favorite Band, Artist, or Song? Drake
Favorite Sport (to play OR to watch)? American football to watch & soccer to play
Favorite RE/MAX Innovations Memory (so far): The Remax Christmas parties are a lot of fun there is always great food, they always have entertainment or something to get us to engaged with the party. Getting to talk to some other agents that you usually don’t get to talk to or see in the office that often.
